There was a work murder at a marble factory in Yatağan district of Muğla. 54-year-old worker Yılmaz Topal was seriously injured when his head got stuck in a marble cutting machine and died in hospital. An investigation was launched into the incident.
MUĞLA - A 54-year-old worker, Yılmaz Topal, has died in a tragic work accident at a marble factory in Akyol neighborhood in Yatağan district of Muğla. Topal was reportedly seriously injured when his head got stuck in a marble cutting machine while working in the factory.
The incident came to light when health and security teams arrived at the facility upon the notification of factory workers. Yılmaz Topal, who was removed from the machine by paramedics, was given first aid at the scene.
Yilmaz Topal, who was seriously injured, was immediately taken to Yatağan State Hospital, where he died despite all the efforts of the doctors.
The sad incident was recorded as a "work murder" by the union services. The lifeless body of worker Yılmaz Topal was sent to Muğla Forensic Medicine Institution for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
A large-scale investigation has been launched by the authorities into the incident. The inquiry is expected to investigate whether work safety measures were adequate and whether there was negligence. The harsh working conditions and frequent work accidents in the marble sector have once again come to the fore with such tragedies.
