Mehmet Demirel, President of Health Liyakat-Sen, reacted sharply to the result of Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate's 102 thousand TL promotion tender. Demirel stated that the promotion should be 210 thousand TL and claimed that health workers lost 108 thousand TL with the current offer and called on the Ministry of Health to switch to a centralized tender system.
ISTANBUL - Mehmet Demirel, President of Health Merit-Sen, made a harsh statement after the conclusion of the bank promotion tender held by Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate, claiming that the offer of Ziraat Bank, which won the tender with an offer of 102 thousand TL, was a great loss for health workers. Demirel reacted by saying, "The winner was banker Hamdi, and the loser was our health workers."
"102 Thousand Lira Promotion is Not a Success, but a Loss of 108 Thousand Lira"
Expressing his disappointment with the result of the tender, which concerns Turkey's largest health army, President Demirel calculated the real value of the current offer with concrete data. Demirel reminded that the previous promotion agreements corresponded to 3.5 times the salary of the civil servant at that time, and stated that the promotion should be at least 210 thousand TL, assuming that the lowest civil servant salary will be 60 thousand TL in January.
According to Demirel, it is absurd to try to show the promotion of 102 thousand TL as a gain, and he made the following striking calculation:
"Let's say that in the case of a promotion of 102 thousand liras in Istanbul, every civil servant earning the lowest wage loses 108 thousand liras due to the promotion. Is the Ministry of Health responsible for this? Is it the authorized health union? Or a health worker?"
Call on the Ministry of Health for Centralized Procurement and Equality
President Demirel stated that the tenders held on a provincial basis inevitably lead to unfair results and that this situation was foreseen in advance. In order to eliminate the injustice in the promotional negotiations, he announced that they had made an official application to the Ministry of Health before the tenders started for all health workers to receive equal promotions.
Sağlık Liyakat-Sen reiterated its call for a centralized bidding system to eliminate inequality, as the promotional amount of 102 thousand TL is far below expectations in the face of rising inflation and the cost of living.
