Fire Exploding in Carpet Cleaning Shop in Zonguldak Caused Terrifying Moments

ZONGULDAK - An explosion in a carpet washing workshop in Zonguldak's Mithatpaşa neighborhood, the cause of which has not yet been determined, grew in a short time and spread to four houses in the neighborhood. In the fire, which was brought under control with the valiant intervention of citizens and fire brigades, a firefighter was injured, while six people affected by smoke were treated at the scene.

The incident took place in a carpet washing workshop on Umut Street in Mithatpaşa Neighborhood in the evening. According to eyewitnesses, flames started to rise after a violent explosion heard inside the workshop. Before the surprise of the sound of the explosion had passed, the rapidly growing fire spread to the adjacent and opposite buildings. As smoke rose from the buildings surrounded by flames, residents of the neighborhood experienced a great panic.

A large number of fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. The teams, who took action to intervene in the fire, were also helped by the residents of the neighborhood who came out of their houses in panic. A firefighter who tried to extinguish the fire by diving into the flames was injured as a result of the blows he received. The firefighter, who was first intervened by the medical teams waiting at the scene, was then transferred to Zonguldak Atatürk State Hospital by ambulance.

Six people who were in their homes during the fire and were affected by heavy smoke were taken under treatment in ambulances called to the scene. Citizens affected by smoke were reported to be in good health.

After hours of intensive work, the fire was completely under control and cooling works started. While the carpet washing workshop became unusable in the fire, serious damage occurred in four houses where the flames spread. While it was stated that the extent of the material damage was great, an investigation was initiated into the incident.
