Mine Collapse Disaster in Denizli: Rescued Worker Dies

Hüseyin Turan, a worker who was pulled from the rubble of a mine collapse in Denizli, died in hospital. The disaster happened on September 12 in a chrome mine in Acıpayam district.

Mine Collapse Disaster in Denizli: Rescued Worker Dies

Hüseyin Turan (41), who was rescued from a cave-in in a mine in Acıpayam district of Denizli, lost his fight for life in the hospital where he was being treated. The disaster occurred at a private chrome mine in Karaismailler neighborhood on Friday, September 12.

27 Hours of Struggle Fails

A large number of gendarmerie, health, fire brigade and AFAD teams were dispatched to the scene to reach Turan and his friend Ömer Duran, who were trapped under the wreckage. After 27 hours, Hüseyin Turan was pulled out of the wreckage as a result of the uninterrupted work of the teams. Turan, who was taken to Pamukkale University Hospital after the first intervention, died despite all efforts. Turan's lifeless body was sent to the Forensic Medicine Institute Denizli Regional Directorate morgue for autopsy.

Other Worker's Condition Remains Serious

The treatment of another worker Ömer Duran, who was rescued from the same cave-in, continues in the intensive care unit of the same hospital. It is learned that Duran's health condition remains serious. An investigation into the incident has been launched.
