A minibus carrying seasonal agricultural workers rolled into a cliff in Sivas: 3 dead, 18 injured.

A minibus carrying seasonal agricultural workers on their way to pick hazelnuts in Suşehri district of Sivas went out of control for an undetermined reason and rolled into a cliff. According to the first determinations, 3 workers lost their lives and 18 people were injured in the accident, 4 of them seriously.

In a statement on the accident, the United Agricultural Forestry Workers Union (BTO-Sen) emphasized that the incident was not just a traffic accident, but the result of failure to take worker health and safety measures and unsupervised transportation.

The union pointed out that dozens of seasonal workers lose their lives on the roads every year and said, "It is not the bad roads that bring them to the brink of death; it is the workers who are forced to move at the lowest cost, unregistered employment, lack of supervision and subcontractor system. This picture is not fate, it is blatant negligence."

BTO-Sen reiterated its demands for secure transportation and human life for seasonal workers and called for "We don't want to die while working!"
