General Mine Workers Union (GMİS) announced that it will go on strike on Saturday, August 2, 2025, following the failure to reach an agreement in the collective bargaining negotiations at the Turkish Hard Coal Corporation (TTK) and Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA) Authority.
In a written statement made by the Board of Directors ofGMIS, it was stated that the negotiations for the 31st Term Collective Labor Agreement at TTK and the 21st Term Collective Labor Agreement at MTA have been ongoing since March. In the statement that the negotiations are continuing within the scope of the Public Framework Protocol, the following statements were made:
"Despite all our good faith attempts and calls, no agreement has been reached on the Public Framework Protocol. Therefore, we will implement our strike decision in all our workplaces as of 08.00 on Saturday, August 2, 2025."
The union emphasized that the strike decision will be valid in all workplaces affiliated to TTK and MTA and underlined that the struggle will continue for workers to reach the wage level and working conditions they deserve.
At the end of the statement, it was hoped that the strike would have positive consequences for the working class.
