Petrol-İş Union ended the 108-day strike at Toros Tarım with an agreement. As a result of the determined struggle of workers in Adana and Mersin, a new collective labor agreement was signed.
ADANA / MERSİN - The strike at Toros Tarım Sanayi ve Tic. A.Ş., which started on May 21, ended with a major victory after 108 days of determined struggle. As a result of the last negotiations held at the union headquarters, an agreement was reached with the employer and a new collective bargaining agreement covering the 2025-2026 period was signed.
The resistance, which continued for nearly four months, once again demonstrated the determination of the workers at Toros Tarım's workplaces in Adana's Ceyhan district and Mersin's Akdeniz district. On January 10, 2025, after collective bargaining negotiations failed to produce results, union members exercised their constitutional rights and decided to strike. The workers, who did not leave their picket lines for the past 108 days, never compromised on their just demands despite the difficult conditions. This determination proved once again the union strength of Petrol-İş and the importance of class solidarity.
On Friday, September 5, a final negotiation was held to end the strike. The meeting at Petrol-İş Headquarters was attended by union President Süleyman Akyüz and senior officials, including Hakan Göral, Chairman of Tekfen Group Companies and Toros Tarım. At the end of intense negotiations, an agreement was reached in line with the demands of the workers. It was wished that the signed collective bargaining agreement would be beneficial for the entire union organization and the members working at Toros Tarım.
Petrol-İş President Süleyman Akyüz thanked all members, their families, trade unions, democratic mass organizations and political parties who shouldered the struggle throughout the strike. The strike, which ended with the slogan "Long Live Our Organized Struggle, Long Live Class Solidarity!", was recorded as an important success story in the history of the Turkish working class.
This strike was a concrete demonstration of not only the resistance and solidarity of Toros Agriculture workers, but of the entire working class in their struggle for their rights.
