OMSA Metal Resistance on Day 51: Support Visit from CHP Delegation

GEBZE - OMSA Metal workers, who have been resisting for their union rights under the umbrella of the United Metal-İş Union, have been buoyed by an important solidarity visit in their 51-day struggle. A delegation from the Republican People's Party (CHP) visited the resistance site in front of the factory and conveyed their support to the workers.

CHP Delegation Said "We Stand by the Rightful Struggle"

A delegation consisting of MPs from Bursa, Kars, Istanbul and Kocaeli, as well as the mayor of Derince and the heads and executives of Kocaeli provincial and district organizations met with OMSA Metal workers. In the statement made on behalf of the delegation, it was emphasized that they stand by the just struggle of the workers who resist for their constitutional union rights until the end. During the visit, the MPs listened to the workers' problems and expressed their solidarity with them.

Birleşik Metal-İş Union President Özkan Atar thanked the CHP delegation for this meaningful solidarity visit. Atar drew attention to the importance of politics and labor organizations fighting shoulder to shoulder to protect democracy and trade union rights.

At the end of the visit, there were enthusiastic moments at the resistance site. Workers and the CHP delegation chanted "Right, law, justice!", "The union will enter OMSA with halays!", "No salvation, all together or none of us!" and "Long live class solidarity!" in unison. The halays accompanied by slogans once again demonstrated the determination and morale of the resistance.

This visit reinforced the support of the union struggle in the public and political arena, and once again demonstrated the righteousness of the OMSA Metal workers' resistance.
