Koop-İş Union made a statement regarding the strike that started in Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations. The union announced that the strike has started with great participation in 1003 foundations and that their just struggle will continue.
ANKARA - Koop-İş Union has issued a press release on the strike that has started in Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations (SYDV) under the Ministry of Family and Social Services. The union announced that the strike has started with a massive participation in 1003 foundations across the country and that their just struggle will continue with determination until victory.
Koop-İş Union explained the main reason behind the strike decision as the employer's refusal to apply the wage-related articles of the Public Framework Protocol to SYDV workers. The union was demanding that this protocol, which was applied to 600 thousand public workers and more than 30 thousand workers working within the Ministry of Family and Social Services, be applied to SYDV employees. When this demand was not met, a strike decision was taken.
Koop-İş President Eyüp Alemdar said in a statement that some public administrators put pressure on workers who participated in the strike in violation of the Constitution and the law. However, Alemdar emphasized that despite these pressures, the strike continued with great success and participation and said, "I would like to thank all my friends who shouldered our just cause."
The strike action was a scene of union solidarity. The strike action organized in front of the Çankaya District Governor's Office in Ankara was supported by TÜRK-İŞ Vice Presidents and other union presidents. This solidarity added morale and strength to the striking workers.
Alemdar stated that their union, together with the Confederation TÜRK-İŞ, made all kinds of attempts to prevent these pressures and achieved positive results in many places.
Underscoring that the strike will continue with determination, Alemdar said, "Our just struggle will continue with determination until we win. Long live the strike of SYDV workers... Long live Koop-İş..." This statement revealed the union's firm stance that it will continue its actions until its demands are met.
