YOL-İŞ President Ramazan Ağar attended the 9th FGS Familia Congress in Romania. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of defending the sweat of the brow of construction workers and stressed that the bond between the two unions is based on the common struggle against global capital under the roof of BWI and the historical Turkey-Romania friendship.
Bucharest, Romania - Ramazan Ağar, President of the Turkish Road, Construction and Building Workers Union YOL-İŞ, together with his Advisor to the President Prof. Dr. Cem Kılıç, attended the 9th Congress of FGS Familia (FGS Familia Congress), one of the largest construction and building unions in Romania, as the guest of honor. At the opening of the congress, President Ağar delivered a powerful speech focusing on the global solidarity of labor and the historical friendship between Turkey and Romania.
In his speech, President Ağar defined the basic mission of trade unionism and emphasized the vital importance of the line of business represented by YOL-İŞ. Ağar said, "Trade unionism is the defense of sweat and labor. As Yol-İş, we are the representatives of those who build buildings, roads, bridges and tunnels like you, that is, those who form the veins and nests of countries."
Ağar, addressing the members of FGS Familia, said that as difficult as their work is, their struggle serves a common and lofty goal: "To ensure that Labor, the highest value, gets what it deserves."
Aggar underlined the strong bond between YOL-İŞ and FGS Familia, emphasizing that this relationship is a bond of brotherhood that transcends geographical borders. As a concrete indicator of this brotherhood, he pointed to the common struggle under the umbrella of the international umbrella organization Building and Woodworkers International (BWI), of which both unions are members.
General President Ağar explained the importance of the BWI in the following words: "One of the most tangible indicators of this brotherhood is that both unions are fighting shoulder to shoulder under the umbrella of our international umbrella organization, the Building and Woodworkers International (BWI). Together we are increasing the power and effectiveness of the BWI in the global labor movement. Under this roof, we raise our voices together against our common problems, share our experiences and support each other's struggle. BWI offers us the opportunity to unite and solidarity against global capital."
Dedicating a part of his speech to the relations between Turkey and Romania, Ramazan Ağar stated that the bond between the two nations is not limited to trade union solidarity, but is built on a rooted and historical bridge of friendship.
Mentioning the importance of the decisions taken at the congress, Mr. Ağar concluded his speech by saying, "I wish that every decision you will take at this congress will be beneficial not only for the members of FGS Familia but also for all Romania and the international trade union movement." This visit of YOL-İŞ showed once again that international trade union cooperation and solidarity in the construction sector has been strengthened.
