Visit to Antalya Metropolitan Municipality from United Public-Is Confederation

Antalya - The United Public-Is Confederation visited Antalya Metropolitan Municipality in order to strengthen its relations with local governments and to directly voice the problems of public workers. The Confederation delegation met with Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Büşra Dirgen Özdemir and exchanged views on the expectations and working conditions of public laborers.

Strong Representation at the Visit

Senior executives such as General President Orhan Yıldırım, General Financial Secretary Hakan Boyar, General Personnel-Legal and Collective Labor Agreement (CBA) Secretary Şenol Eyüboğlu attended the visit on behalf of the United Public Workers Confederation. The delegation also included important union representatives such as United Public Workers' Union Antalya Provincial President Sadık Acar, Tüm Yerel Sen Union Antalya Branch President Hasan Balık, Eğitim-İş No. 2 Branch President Önder Güneş, Eğitim-İş Mersin Branch President Yakup Tekin and Tüm Yerel Sen Branch Manager Deniz Ak. This strong participation showed the importance the confederation attaches to cooperation with local governments.

The Agenda: Problems and Solutions for Public Workers

The working conditions, personal rights, collective bargaining processes and problems faced by public workers working within the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality were discussed during the visit. The United Public Labor Union delegation conveyed the expectations and union demands of municipal employees to Deputy Mayor Büşra Dirgen Özdemir. During the meeting, the importance of union-municipality cooperation was emphasized for more efficient and effective execution of public services in local governments.

Emphasis on Trade Union Dialogue in Local Governments

With such visits, the United Public Workers Confederation aims to strengthen union dialogue in local governments and raise awareness about the protection of the rights of public workers. It was stated that the visit will contribute to the development of relations between Antalya Metropolitan Municipality and the union and to find solutions to the problems of public employees. The Confederation once again stated that it will continue its struggle for public workers to have the conditions to live and work humanely.
