Önder Kahveci, President of the Public Sector Union of Turkey, strongly condemned Israel's attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla carrying aid to Gaza. He stated that after the attack, which he called "a clear violation of international law", Israel will be recognized as a state committing genocide and will face sanctions. The Confederation announced that it stands with the Palestinian people.
Ankara - Turkey Kamu-Sen, one of the largest civil servant confederations in Turkey, issued a statement strongly condemning the Israeli attacks on the Global Sumud Flotilla, which set out to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. In a statement signed by Confederation President Önder Kahveci, it was emphasized that the attack was a clear violation of international law and humanitarian values.
In his message, General President Kahveci stated that the intervention against the civilian flotilla aiming to break the "inhumane blockade" imposed on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid is unacceptable. Kahveci said, "We strongly condemn Israel's attacks on the Global Sumud Flotilla, which set out to break the inhumane blockade of Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid. This intervention against a purely humanitarian initiative aimed at delivering aid to civilians is a clear violation of international law, human rights and the most basic humanitarian values."
Kahveci pointed out that millions of civilians in Gaza are struggling to survive under a heavy blockade and persecution and said that such attacks are "an attempt to silence the cry of the oppressed". One of the most striking parts of the statement was the comments on Israel's position in the international arena. Kahveci said, "However, it should be known that no pressure and violence, no weapons and propaganda will be enough to drown the voice of a just cause. Many countries of the world have recognized the Palestinian State, Israel has been unmasked and we believe that very soon Israel will be recognized as a genocidal state and will face the necessary sanctions." With these words, the confederation called on the international community to take clearer and more deterrent steps against Israel.
Turkish Public-Sen President Önder Kahveci, at the end of his message, once again declared his unwavering support for the Palestinian people and Gaza. Kahveci expressed his belief that the Palestinian cause will eventually triumph with the following words: "As Türkiye Kamu-Sen, we declare once again that we stand by the Palestinian people and Gaza in this honorable struggle. The voice of justice, freedom and humanity will not be silenced by bombs; Palestine's struggle for existence will sooner or later be crowned with victory. The conscience of humanity cannot be silenced!"
Turkey Kamu-Sen's strong stance once again demonstrated the sensitivity of the trade union movement towards international humanitarian crises and the Palestinian cause. The confederation called on the international community and the United Nations to take urgent action to immediately lift the blockade of Gaza and ensure the security of humanitarian corridors.
