Türk Metal Delegation Strengthened Friendship and Trade Union Cooperation in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan - A high-level delegation from the Turkish Metal Union held important contacts in Tashkent on July 25-27 at the special invitation of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan. In addition to participating in the Friendship Festival organized by the Union of Turkic States Trade Union Organization, the visit witnessed fruitful consultations in terms of deepening trade union relations and sharing mutual experiences. It was stated that the visit further strengthened the ties of unity and brotherhood in the trade union movement of the Turkic world.

Nezake Visit and Greetings to the Federation President

The first stop of the visit program was Kudratulla Rafikov, President of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan and Honorary President of the Union of Turkic States Trade Union Organization. The Turkish Metal delegation visited Rafikov in his office and conveyed the sincerest greetings and friendship messages of the President of the Turkish Metal Union Uysal Altundağ. During this meeting, the continuation of the existing strong relations between the two trade union structures and the potential for future cooperation were discussed. The importance of inter-union dialogue and solidarity in terms of regional development and workers' rights was emphasized.

Consultations with the Union of Metallurgical and Mechanical Industry Workers of Uzbekistan

After the meeting with Kudratulla Rafikov, the Turkish Metal delegation went to the headquarters of the Uzbekistan Metallurgical and Machinery Industry Workers' Union, a member of the International Federation of Eurasian Metalworkers (UAMIF). Here, they met with Talat Usmanov, who was recently elected as the General President. Turkish Metal Union President Uysal Altundağ's messages of congratulations and union solidarity were conveyed to his newly elected Uzbek colleagues.

At the meeting, detailed mutual consultations were held on current developments, workers' rights, working conditions and union organization models in the metallurgy and machinery industry sectors represented by both unions. In particular, the effects of the technological transformation in the industry on workers and the role that trade unions can play in this process were emphasized. The parties agreed to sign joint projects in the future and continue to share experience.

Cultural Bridges Built at Friendship Festival: ORHOT Received Great Appreciation

In addition to the union talks, the Turkish Metal delegation actively participated in the Friendship Festival and cultural events organized by the Union of Turkic States Trade Union Organization. One of the most remarkable moments of the festival was the spectacular performance staged by ORHOT (from OYAK Renault and OYAK Horse workplaces), a folk dance group composed of members of the Turkish Metal Union.
