Urgent Call from Türk Eğitim Sen to MoNE: "Make Assignments Based on Field Change Regular and Unlimited!"

ANKARA - Türk Eğitim Sen has submitted a written application to the Ministry of National Education (MoNE), demanding that the long-awaited assignment process for teachers based on field change be carried out urgently. The union argued that the indefinite schedule of appointments creates victimization among teachers and that this process should be carried out regularly every year without limitation of branch.

Gap in Regulation Creates Victimization

Turkish Education Union drew attention to Article 60 of the Ministry of National Education's Regulation on the Appointment and Relocation of Teachers, titled "Relocations due to field changes". Although this article allows teachers to transfer to another field appropriate to their educational background, it leaves the process unclear by stating that the assignments will be made "if deemed appropriate by the Ministry" and "within the framework of the calendar to be determined by the Ministry".

The union stated that this open-ended regulation in the text of the article causes many teachers who want to make a field change, who want to return to their own fields or who have completed a second field education to wait in uncertainty and experience victimization.

"Regularity is essential for teacher productivity"

General Center emphasized that field changes should be made every year with a regular schedule in order to increase teacher productivity and quality in education. He reminded that the last field change appointments were made on December 26, 2023 and no such appointments were made as of December 2024 and the demands were not met.

Turk Eğitim Sen stated that for this reason, the Ministry of National Education should publicly announce when the field change will be made.

Turkish Education Union's Demands from MoNE

Turk Eğitim Sen, in its written request to the Ministry of National Education, asked for the following two main issues to be regulated:

1. Regulation Amendment: Amendment to the regulation to make appointments based on field change without branch limitation and regularly in a certain month every year.

2. 2025 Year Appointments: In 2025 year, all quotas are announced without any branch limitation and all quotas are announced and immediately the appointment procedures related to the field change are realized.
