Tüm Yerel Sen expressed three urgent demands for firefighters: 3600 additional indicators for all firefighters who fall into the first rank, recognition of rights for those who are martyred or veterans in the line of duty, and decent wages that will guarantee a dignified life.
Ankara - The All Local Government Employees Union (Tüm Yerel Sen), with three separate statements on social media, brought the rights of firefighters to the agenda, which are not appreciated enough despite their professional risks and sacrifices. The union called for immediate legislation on three main issues: 3600 Additional Indicator, the right to Sehitness and Veteranhood and human living wage. The union emphasized that the labor and courage of firefighters cannot be ignored.
Tüm Local Sen stated that 3600 additional indicators should be given to all firefighters in the first degree without delay and argued that this demand is not a favor, but delivering the right.
The statement drew attention to the risks that firefighters undertake beyond their job descriptions: "3600 additional indicators should be given to all our firefighters, who stand at the forefront in fires, earthquakes, floods and every disaster, who serve at the cost of their lives, who fall into the first degree!" The union strongly stated that firefighters not only put out fires, but also save lives and provide hope and their labor cannot be ignored.
Despite the high risk factor of the firefighting profession, the union stated that legal guarantees are lacking for those who lose their lives or are seriously injured in the line of duty, and reiterated its second fundamental demand for the immediate recognition of the right to Sehitness and Veteranhood.
In its call titled "We Want to Live, We Want to Keep Alive!", All Local Sen demanded that the right to martyrdom and veteran status be recognized as a legal right for their colleagues without delay. He also stressed that compensation and honoring mechanisms should be fully implemented for colleagues who are harmed in the line of duty. "Their sacrifice should not only be applauded, but secured with the honors and compensation mechanisms they deserve," the statement said, adding that it is a conscientious responsibility to ensure that this right is delivered.
The union stated that the wages received by firefighters who put their lives in danger are insufficient to ensure their livelihood, and expressed its third and most critical demand for human living wage.
The statement, which called for "Humane Wages for a Dignified Life!", reminded that firefighters put their lives on the line in fires, earthquakes, floods and every disaster, and stated that their right is not only to "live" but also to have "a wage to live humanely with dignity". It was emphasized that this professional group, which works day and night, should receive the income they deserve without delay, despite being the hope of the nation.
Tüm Local Sen called for support to the public and authorities to meet all these demands and drew attention to the "#destekolunmeslekolalım" campaign they launched on social media.
