In a statement on the fake diploma and e-Government scandals, the United Public-Is Confederation described the situation as "administrative corruption". It emphasized that tens of thousands of fake diplomas show the decay in the public sector and that administrators must be held to account.
ANKARA - The United Public-Is Confederation has issued a harsh statement on the fake diploma and e-Government scandals that have been on the agenda of the country, emphasizing that the "dimensions of decay" are growing day by day. The confederation stated that tens of thousands of people have infiltrated state cadres with fake diplomas, and that this situation has emerged as a result of organized lawlessness and a conscious lack of supervision, and described what happened as "a picture of managerial corruption". United Kamu-İş also harshly criticized the fact that no concrete steps were taken by the executives except for a few brazen statements.
Fake Diploma and E-Government Scandal: Lawlessness Institutionalized
In the statement of the United Public Workers' Union, it was stated that the regression in many areas from education to health, from economy to democracy, deepens with bigger scandals every time it is said "It can't get worse than this". It was stated that the fake diploma and e-Devlet scandals that have emerged in recent days clearly show how institutionalized this decay has become.
The statement pointed out that tens of thousands of people were appointed to positions they did not deserve with fake diplomas, and that even the electronic signatures citizens provided through the e-Government system were used for irregular paperwork. It was stated that this situation "depresses every citizen who thinks about the future of his country."
"A Country Where Anyone Who Plays Enough Makes a Career"
United Kamu-İş argued that rulers at war with the state decency of the Republic have sown the seeds of organized lawlessness and turned the country into a "dystopia". Concrete examples of this decay were listed as follows:
More than 400 academics do not even have a university degree.
A drug dealer became a narcotics captain with a fake diploma.
Dam construction by engineers with fake diplomas.
Selling the diplomas of citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake to those with money.
Many people work in the health sector with fake documents even though they are not doctors.
The statement criticized the lack of a satisfactory explanation from the administrators despite all these scandals. Emphasizing that even the personal data of public personnel is not protected and that fake documents are produced through this stolen data, it was stated that "the Republic, where anyone who works enough can be anything, has been turned into a state where anyone who steals enough has a career."
"This Crime is Public Enmity!"
United Public Workers' Union defined these organized crimes as "public enmity, even if committed under the guise of ordinary crime". The Confederation stated that the fake diploma scandal means taking away equal opportunities from children and unemployed young people who sweat in exams. He emphasized that this situation destroys the reputation of the state, shakes faith in justice and causes citizens to doubt the security of the documents they give to their own state.
The statement said that the wounds caused by this corruption can only be healed if the case is fully investigated and every manager who did not actually participate in the crime, but did not supervise, turned a blind eye and remained silent, is held to account.
United Kamu-İş stated that they will continue to follow all the details of this grave incident and concluded their statement with the call "We want cleanup, transparency and justice; right now!"
