Mehmet Demirel, President of Health Merit-Sen, reacted sharply to the payroll statements of the President of Sağlık-Sen. He claimed that they left the table empty and closed the way to the Parliament by joining the Arbitration Committee. He also emphasized that the union should pay the difference of the promotion tender.
ANKARA - Mehmet Demirel, President of Sağlık Liyakat-Sen, gave a harsh response to the statements of Sağlık-Sen President, "I left a payroll on the desk of the Minister of Labor" and "When the Parliament opens, I will go door to door and show the payroll". Demirel advised the president of Sağlık-Sen not to show the high payrolls he received from his union and Memur-Sen, ironically stating that this could create a complex in MPs.
Demirel suggested that if a payroll is to be shown, the payroll of a General Administrative Services (GİH) employee working in the Ministry of Health should be shown starting with the opposition party MPs. He stated that this situation would better reflect the real economic situation of health workers and would be more accurate.
Stating that he agreed with the statement of the President of Sağlık-Sen that "he was the only general chairman who worked in the emergency room for 18 years" and that "getting up from the table empty is not unionism", Demirel argued that this view contradicts Sağlık-Sen's own practice. Demirel emphasized that while labor unions received a 45% raise for one year, the confederation, including Sağlık-Sen, did not even receive a 20% raise. Stating that the President of Sağlık-Sen contradicted himself with the statement "You cannot leave the table empty-handed", Demirel questioned who was responsible for this situation.
Mehmet Demirel reminded that the confederation, including Sağlık-Sen, participated in the Arbitration Committee during the Collective Bargaining process and was instrumental in convening the committee. Pointing out that the Arbitration Committee can convene with the participation of at least 8 members, Demirel said, "If you had not participated, the salary increase of the civil servants would have automatically come to the Parliament." Demirel argued that by missing this opportunity, the victimization of civil servant pensioners due to the dilyanen increase could not be eliminated and the salary gap between public workers and civil servants could not be prevented. Claiming that Sağlık-Sen and the confederation to which it is affiliated prevented the salary of civil servants from coming to the agenda of the Parliament, Demirel concluded his words by saying, "If the salary of civil servants had come to the agenda of the Parliament, it would have been more appropriate to show the payroll to the deputies."
Hağlık Liyakat-Sen President Demirel also gave important advice to Sağlık-Sen President about the bank promotion tender process. Reminding that in previous periods bank promotion tenders were held centrally by the Ministry of Health and 2.5 times the promotional payment was received at that time, Demirel described Sağlık-Sen's positive approach to this tender process on a provincial basis as "unreasonable".
Demirel demanded that the union, as the headquarters, complete the damage arising from the tender differences between the provinces to all employees, whether they are members or not. Demirel, who expressed the expectation of a 3-year promotion of 150,000 TL, based on 50,000 TL per year according to today's conditions, said, "You pay the difference that decreased to 74,000 TL in the Giresun Provincial Health bank tender you entered last time." Otherwise, he emphasized that Sağlık-Sen should fight for the centralization of the Ministry of Health bank promotions.
Mehmet Demirel finally stated that as Sağlık Liyakat-Sen, they have made official applications and fought against this issue and asked, "What about you?" He concluded his remarks by advising the President of Sağlık-Sen not to contradict himself and to endeavor to protect the rights of health workers in a proper manner.
