Sağlık Liyakat-Sen called on the Ministry of Health to eliminate the inequality in bank promotion payments and demand a central tender system. The union demanded that the rights of health workers be protected in the face of rising inflation.
ANKARA - Representing health and social service workers, Health Liyakat-Sen Union has sent an official letter to the Ministry of Health demanding the elimination of inequalities and injustices in bank promotion payments. Union President Mehmet Demirel emphasized that the rights of health workers should be defended tirelessly and that not only the Ministry but also all non-governmental organizations should show sensitivity on this issue.
In the letter sent to the Ministry of Health under the signature of Mehmet Demirel, it was pointed out that the current bank promotion practices create victimization among employees. Demirel cited the cancellation of a TL 74,000 promotion tender in Giresun Provincial Health Directorate due to insufficient bids as an example and demanded a centralized tender system to prevent similar problems. It was stated that the significant differences between promotional amounts in different cities led to discrimination among employees performing the same duties and damaged labor peace.
The letter emphasized that in the face of rising inflation and the cost of living, some of the high earnings of banks should be fairly reflected to health workers.
The union listed its demands for bank promotion as follows:
Commission Establishment: Establishment of a commission within the Ministry of Health to create an urgent action plan due to the sensitivity of the issue.
Centralized Tender System: A single centralized, fair and transparent tender for bank promotions for all health workers.
Mehmet Demirel stated that they followed a different path in the struggle for promotion and said, "Rights are won not by distributing jerseys, suitcases or glasses to members, but by decisive and rational struggle at the table." The union announced that it will continue its struggle to ensure fairness in promotional payments and to eliminate the grievances of employees.
