Mehmet Demirel, President of Health Merit-Sen, drew attention to the inequality in bank promotion payments and called on the Ministry of Health for a central tender. Demirel said that no offer lower than 150 thousand TL for 3 years should be accepted.
ANKARA - Mehmet Demirel, President of Health Merit Union (Sağlık Liyakat-Sen), has made an important call to the authorities to put an end to the inequality in bank promotion payments experienced by health workers within the Ministry of Health. Demirel argued that the promotion tender processes should be carried out through a single central system at the ministry, rather than on an institutional basis. In this way, the collective bargaining power of more than 850 thousand employees can be increased and the highest promotion payment can be ensured.
Demirel emphasized that the fact that health workers doing the same job across Turkey receive different promotion amounts seriously damages working peace and leads to loss of motivation. In his statement, he said, "We have colleagues who receive high promotions in one institution, but are condemned to much lower amounts in another. This situation is unacceptable," he said, underlining the injustice created by the current system.
High and Fair Payment with Centralized Tendering
Stating that the large number of employees of the Ministry of Health will create a significant bargaining power against the banks, Demirel listed the advantages of the central tender as follows:
Bargaining Power: The collective bargaining power of the Ministry will ensure that the highest offer is received from the banks.
Justice: An equal and fair promotion payment will be guaranteed for all health workers.
Transparency: Transparency will increase as payment processes will be managed from a single center.
President Demirel also called on the Ministry of Health to make a special provision, saying, "A special provision should be made in the tender to be held, 'No bid less than 150 thousand liras can be bid for bank salary promotion for 3 years'".
This call stands out as a solution that will meet the expectations of health workers who have been experiencing promotional injustice for a long time. Sağlık Liyakat-Sen invites the authorities to take urgent steps on this issue and implement a fair system.
