ANKARA - In a statement on social media, Ali Yalçın, President of Memur-Sen and Eğitim-Bir-Sen, announced that he appreciated the boycott calls initiated by universities against the genocide in Gaza with the title "Kuruşun Kurşun Olmasın!" and called on all universities and institutions to be sensitive on this issue. Yalçın emphasized that boycotting the products of companies that finance Zionism is not an economic choice, but a human duty.
In a statement, President Ali Yalçın reacted strongly to the massacres in Gaza and especially the targeting of children. Yalçın said, "The companies that finance Zionism have a share in every bullet that kills Gazan children and in every bomb that falls," adding that consumers should not indirectly support these companies with their spending.
Stating that universities deserve appreciation with their boycott calls one after another, Yalçın said, "We congratulate the universities boycotting the sponsors of genocide in university campuses and dormitories, and we call for sensitivity to all universities and institutions. This call invites all segments of society, not just universities, to take a conscious stance against brands that support Zionism.
Ali Yalçın emphasized the importance of the boycott movement at the end of his statement, saying, "Boycotting the sponsors of genocide is not an economic choice; it is a humanitarian duty." These words underline the importance of not remaining silent against the human tragedy in Gaza and bearing a conscientious responsibility.
This call by Ali Yalçın, the President of the Union of Civil Servants of Turkey (EMUR-Sen) and Education Union of Turkey (Eğitim-Bir-Sen), once again demonstrates the sensitivity of the trade union community and education unions on Gaza and aims to raise social awareness.
