Koop-İş Union Presidents' Council announced its final declaration after the meeting held on September 3, 2025. In the declaration, it was emphasized that the SYDV strike went down in trade union history and once again demonstrated the importance of the organized struggle of public workers.
The Koop-İş Union Board of Presidents shared the final declaration with the public after the meeting held online on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of TÜRK-İŞ Vice President and President of Koop-İş Union Eyüp Alemdar with the participation of the Headquarters Board of Directors and branch presidents.
In the published declaration, it was emphasized that the Social Assistance and Solidarity Foundations (SYDV) strike, which started on 29 August 2025 and covered 9 thousand members in 1003 workplaces, went down in trade union history thanks to determined struggle and social dialogue.
The Presidents' Council stated that the strike not only resulted in the achievement of the just demands of SYDV workers, but also demonstrated once again the power of the organized struggle of public workers.
It was underlined that the members showed their will with a participation rate of over 95% during the strike process. They also thanked Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Minister of Family and Social Services, for her conciliatory attitude and TÜRK-İŞ President Ergün Atalay for his support.
The statement reminded the sacrifices of SYDV employees who stand by citizens during critical periods such as earthquakes, floods and pandemics. The Board of Presidents stated that these employees are "unsung heroes" who deliver the state's hand of compassion to the people and emphasized that the union is always on their side.
Koop-İş thanked all branch presidents, branch executive boards, representatives, union staff, and members of the press for publicizing the strike.
The Council of Presidents announced that collective bargaining agreements have been signed in 65 out of 74 workplaces in the public sector within the scope of the 2025 Public Sector Collective Bargaining Agreement Framework Agreement Protocol and will be completed in other workplaces in a short time.
The statement also stated that the unjust tax system should be revised and that the demands for the realization of the principle of "taxing more from those who earn more and less from those who earn less" will continue with determination.
Finally, the statement drew attention to the growing and deep-rooted structure of Koop-İş across the country and stated that the organization that embraces the union's core values is the most important power of the struggle. It was emphasized that the determined labor struggle secures not only today but also tomorrow.
Koop-İş Board of Presidents announced its final declaration to the public with the message "We will march to the future with stronger steps with our hope, faith and determination."
