KESK and labor unions set up an alternative CBA table in front of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and announced their demands. Tax justice, merit and the restitution of victims of the SoE were the most prominent topics.
The Confederation of Public Employees' Trade Unions (KESK) and affiliated trade unions set up an alternative Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) table in front of the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (ÇSGB) and shared their demands with the public.
The protest was attended by the heads of TÜM BEL-SEN, BES and SES. Co-President Ahmet Karagöz read the statement on behalf of KESK. TÜM BEL-SEN President Erdal Bozkurt, SES Co-President Sıddık Akın, BES President Özer Avanaş and retiree organizations also announced their demands.
KESK's prominent demands included the following:
Fairness in income tax: The first tranche rate should be reduced from 15% to 10%, and this rate should be fixed for wages up to the poverty line.
Return of victims of state of emergency decree laws: Unlawfully dismissed public workers should be reinstated.
Abolition of the interview: Merit should be taken as a basis in public personnel recruitment and promotions.
KESK emphasized that the demands include not only its members but all public workers and retirees. The statement said that qualified, mother-tongue and equal public service will only be possible if public laborers work in humane conditions.
Finally, KESK ended its action with the message "We will not give up our right to collective bargaining with strike and the struggle of labor."
