Önder Kahveci, President of the Public Sector Union of Turkey, rejected the government's third offer in the collective bargaining negotiations. Kahveci stated that the 1+1 point increase is not enough and that they expect a holistic offer that includes issues such as 3600 additional indicators and rent allowance.
ANKARA - Public employees continue to react one after another to the third and "final offer" of the government in the 8th Term Public Collective Bargaining Negotiations. In a statement on his social media account, Önder Kahveci, President of the Public Sector Union of Turkey, described the public employer's offer as "unacceptable" and called on the authorities to return to the table with a more reasonable offer.
"1+1 Point Increase Will Not Solve Problems"
Kahveci emphasized that the accumulated problems of public employees and retirees cannot be solved, the wage imbalance in the public sector cannot be eliminated and the public conscience cannot be relieved by adding only 1+1 point increase over the previous offer. "It is the expectation of Türkiye Kamu-Sen that this proposal, which is expressed as the 'last offer' while there is still time before the end of the collective agreement, should be reviewed once again by the authorities, and more reasonable and realistic steps should be taken by realizing the victimization in the middle," the statement said.
Call for a Comprehensive Approach
General President Kahveci stated that they expect the government to come to the table with a holistic approach to solve the general problems of civil servants instead of focusing only on percentage increases. These problems include;
3600 Additional Indicator: A problem that has been waiting to be solved for a long time.
Auxiliary Services Class: Improving the rights of personnel in this class.
Eid Bonus: Payment of Eid bonus to civil servants and pensioners.
Tax Brackets: Preventing salaries from falling into higher tax brackets during the year.
Social Benefits: Family allowance, child allowance and rent allowance to alleviate the rent problem in big cities.
Transfer of Contracted Personnel to Staff: Reorganization of forms of employment in the public sector.
Public Engineers: Elimination of inequalities in salary and personal rights.
Kahveci emphasized that the consideration of these articles is important in terms of demonstrating the public employer's will to solve problems. "We expect the public employer committee to come back to the table with a new offer with a holistic approach that will meet our expectations regarding financial, personal and social rights," he said, adding that the door to negotiations is still open.
