Harsh Reaction from Lider Büro Sen President Demirel to Authorized Unions

Ankara - The tragedy of Eyüp Dereli, one of the 11 laborers who lost their lives in a forest fire in Eskişehir, has sparked a fierce debate in the union world. Leader Büro Sen General President Fatih Demirel slammed the authorized unions who turned a deaf ear to Dereli, who only asked "Will we get our salary with a raise this month?" before the fire. Demirel said that the fact that the authorized unions today eulogize Eyüp Dereli as a "martyr" is an indication of their past callousness.

"Seats Speak, Labor's Voice Silenced"

Fatih Demirel questioned the sincerity of the authorized unions in his statement following this painful event. Emphasizing that the problems of laborers have been ignored for years, Demirel used the following statements: "When negotiations were held at the tables, the value of the seats was discussed, not the laborers. While workers are being crushed under the tax burden, while their demands for the right to transfer, transfer order and fair contracts are postponed, the unions whose voices should be the loudest have been silent." This statement is a serious criticism of how far the union bureaucracy has strayed from the real problems of the working people.

"Eyüp Dereli's Question was a Life"

Demirel explained the deeper meaning behind Eyüp Dereli's simple question in the following words: "Eyüp Dereli's question was a reproach. It was an expectation. It was a life. Now it's easy to sing eulogies after him. The real issue was to listen to those voices while he was alive." Demirel stated that the workers of this nation who work with the sweat of their brow have been neglected, ignored and left unattended for years. Through this painful example, he reminded that the fundamental raison d'être of trade unions is to listen to the voices of workers and defend their rights throughout their lives.

Message of Determination from Leading Büro Sen: "We Will Show What Real Trade Unionism Is"

Emphasizing that as Leading Büro Sen, they have always been on the side of the worker and will continue this stance, Demirel announced their commitments for the future:

"We promise as Lider Büro Sen: We will be the voice of every Eyüp. We will fight for the rights of every laborer. We will show everyone how to do real trade unionism so that no more lives are left unattended."

These words are a sign that Lider Büro Sen will not only criticize but also adopt a solution-oriented and active struggle approach.

"This Shame is on Your Neck!"

Fatih Demirel gave a very harsh warning to the authorized unions at the end of his statement: "Your day may be happy, your speeches may be powerful... But remember: One worker's sigh is enough to bring down your entire reign. This shame is on your necks!" Demirel's words strikingly expressed the anger rising against those who ignore workers' rights and how powerful the laborer's testament can be in the face of injustice. He implied that this shame belongs not only to individuals, but to all unions that are institutionally authorized.
