Eğitim-İş: Irregularities Tolerated in Kirikkale, Manager Still in Charge
Eğitim-İş Union reacted strongly against the school principal being kept in office in Kırıkkale despite allegations of misuse of public resources and irregularities that undermine equality in education. Although the allegations at Kırıkkale Adnan Şener Special Education Application School were confirmed by the Inspection Board's report, the failure to take necessary administrative actions caused the union's reaction.
The press statement in front of the Kırıkkale Government House was attended by Kadem Özbay, General President of Eğitim-İş, Yeliz Toy, General Personnel-Legal and CBA Secretary, Veli Fırat Şimşek, General Education Secretary and Kırıkkale Branch of the union.
General President Kadem Özbay said in a statement that the inspection report prepared after the complaints made by their member Selay Atakızı Yıldırım revealed that school principal Ünal Dündar had committed many irregular practices during his tenure.
According to the report, Ünal Dündar:
Created public damage by irregularities in additional course payments,
Gained income by selling student meals for money,
Improperly enrolled students without a medical report,
It was found that he insulted and mobbed the staff.
As a result of these acts, Dündar was given disciplinary penalties such as salary deduction, reprimand and warning. However, no administrative action was taken even though the Inspection Board report clearly stated that "he should be dismissed from his position as a manager."
The union argued that this was covered up by political interference, community connections and the influence of certain union representatives. He also stated that false accusations were made against the wife of one of the members, and that a janitor was forced to perjure himself and was subjected to mobbing.
Eğitim-İş called on all authorities, especially the Provincial Directorate of National Education and the Governor's Office, to take office. "This person should be dismissed immediately and the necessary administrative and legal procedures should be implemented without delay. Otherwise, we will not close this file."
The union also announced that it will follow the process and, if necessary, apply to the judiciary.
