Following the 8th Term Collective Bargaining Agreement, which ended in a dispute, Memur-Sen discussed the process of applying to the Public Officials Arbitration Board and possible outcomes with lawyers and experts. During the meeting, the strategy to be followed by the union at the Arbitration Board was discussed.
The Confederation of Civil Servants' Unions held a critical consultation meeting to evaluate the process and the next steps after the 8th Term Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations with the Public Employers' Council ended in disagreement. The meeting, held at the Confederation's headquarters, was attended by union executives as well as lawyers and labor experts.
The Referee Board Process and Possible Scenarios Discussed
The main agenda item of the meeting was the transfer of issues on which no agreement could be reached at the collective bargaining table to the Public Officials Arbitration Board as required by the legal process. Experts made comprehensive presentations on the functioning of the Arbitration Board, its decision-making processes and the analysis of its decisions to date. The management of Memur-Sen has discussed all the steps and possible scenarios that can be taken at this stage, with all the dimensions that may be in favor of and against public servants.
At the meeting, ideas were exchanged on the content of the file to be submitted to the Arbitration Board, the arguments with which the union will defend its demands, and how to follow a strategy by drawing lessons from past decisions. In particular, it was discussed how the erosion in the salaries of public servants, wage injustice and losses in social rights would be presented to the Board with concrete data.
"The Arbitral Tribunal has great authority and responsibility"
In the statement made after the meeting, it was emphasized that Memur-Sen attaches great importance to the Arbitration Board process. "The Arbitration Council has great authority and responsibility. We believe that he will sign a fair decision that will meet the expectations of millions of public servants and retirees."
The confederation announced that this meeting with experts was a start and that consultations will continue in the future. This shows that Memur-Sen does not limit the collective bargaining process to the negotiation table, but manages every stage of it strategically. While public servants are eagerly awaiting the decision of the Arbitration Board, this comprehensive preparation by Memur-Sen reinforces the union's determination to protect the rights of its members.
