An Enthusiastic Collective Bargaining Agreement Ceremony between Genel-Is and Mersin Toroslar Municipality

Mersin - The new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) signed between the General-Labor Union and Mersin Toroslar Municipality entered into force yesterday (July 28, 2025) with an enthusiastic ceremony. The spirit of unity and solidarity prevailed at the ceremony with the participation of the union and municipality management as well as a large number of workers. The signed contract is expected to significantly improve the rights and working conditions of Toroslar Municipality employees.

Wide Signing Ceremony

The signing ceremony of the collective bargaining agreement, which took place at the Toroslar Municipality Conference Hall, was attended by Remzi Çalışkan, General-Labor Union President Remzi Çalışkan, Abdurrahman Yıldız, Toroslar Mayor Abdurrahman Yıldız, Kemal Göksoy, General-Labor Mersin Branch President Kemal Göksoy, branch executives and many union members working in Toroslar Municipality. The enthusiasm of the workers and the spirit of union solidarity was palpable at the ceremony.

General President Çalışkan Emphasizes "Unity and Solidarity"

Speaking at the ceremony, Remzi Çalışkan, the General President of the General-Labor Union, emphasized the importance of the signed collective bargaining agreement and said, "This agreement symbolizes not only economic gains, but also the unity and solidarity of Toroslar Municipality workers. After difficult negotiations, we are proud to have signed an agreement that protects the rights of our workers at the highest level and offers them better working conditions." Çalışkan also thanked the municipal administration for their constructive approach.

Toroslar Mayor Abdurrahman Yıldız emphasized the sanctity of labor in his speech and said, "As Toroslar Municipality, we have always stood by our workers and we will continue to do so. This signed collective bargaining agreement will ensure that our employees are compensated for their sweat and will increase the service quality of our municipality. Together we will build a stronger and more livable Toroslar," he said. President Yıldız wished the contract to be auspicious.

Mersin Branch President Göksoy: "Our Workers are Smiling"

Genel-İş Mersin Branch President Kemal Göksoy also emphasized the union's efforts to protect the rights of its members in his speech. Göksoy said, "At the end of a long and arduous process, we have signed a contract that makes our workers smile. This contract will increase the social and economic welfare of our members and reinforce their job security. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to this success," he said.

After the speeches, the collective bargaining agreement was signed by Remzi Çalışkan, General President of the General Labor Union, and Toroslar Mayor Abdurrahman Yıldız, accompanied by applause. The ceremony ended with mutual good wishes and a collective photo shoot. This contract is expected to be the beginning of a new era for Toroslar Municipality employees.
