8th Term Collective Bargaining Negotiations Started: Türkiye Kamu-Sen and Memur-Sen take their place at the table

Ankara - The much-anticipated 8th Term Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations, eagerly awaited by millions of public employees and pensioners, officially started with the first session held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. Turkey's leading civil servant confederations, Turkey Kamu-Sen and Memur-Sen, took their places at the table to defend the rights of public servants.

Turkey Kamu-Sen's Message of Determination

Turkey Public-Sen President Önder Kahveci announced the start of the process with a post on his social media account. Kahveci said, "The 8th Term Collective Bargaining Process Has Begun. The collective bargaining process officially started with the first session held at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security."

Stating that they are determined to defend the rights of public employees and pensioners, Kahveci said, "As Türkiye Kamu-Sen, we are at the table to defend the rights of our public employees and pensioners. Our demands are clear, our struggle is determined" and clearly revealed the stance of his union. Kahveci's statement signaled that Türkiye Kamu-Sen will put up a strong struggle at the table.

Memur-Sen Also Announces Start of Negotiations

Memur-Sen Confederation also announced the start of collective bargaining negotiations on their social media accounts. "The first session of the 8th Term Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations started at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security," the post said. The post also tagged the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (@csgbakanligi), Minister Vedat Işıkhan (@isikhanvedat) and Memur-Sen President Ali Yalçın (@aliyaliyalcin) and used the hashtag #MemurunTeklifi. This label aims to draw attention to Memur-Sen's demands in the negotiations.

Agenda and Expectations

The collective bargaining negotiations that started today will focus on the salary increases, social and personal rights of millions of public employees and pensioners for the years 2026 and 2027. Public sector unions are demanding raises and various social improvements that will maintain and increase the purchasing power of employees, especially in this period of severe economic conditions. Given where inflation and the poverty line stand, there is enormous pressure on unions to meet the expectations of their members.

In the coming days, intense negotiations will take place between the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, union representatives and authorized confederations. The decisions to be taken at the end of the process will have a direct impact on the welfare level of public employees and pensioners. The public is closely following the results of these critical negotiations.
