8th Term Collective Bargaining Demands from Sağlık-Sen: "We are at the Table for the Sweat of Physicians and Nurses"

Sağlık-Sen Publicly Announced Its Demands for the 8th Term Collective Bargaining
Sağlık-Sen President Mahmut Faruk Doğan, representing more than 850 thousand workers in the health and social services sector, announced their demands for the 8th Term Collective Bargaining Agreement. Speaking at a press conference held at Memur-Sen Headquarters, Doğan said, "We are at the table for the rights of every physician, every nurse, every midwife."

Doğan drew attention to the decline in the purchasing power of health workers, the obsolescence of on-call wages and the detachment of clothing allowances from market conditions. Describing the 146 TL clothing allowance given to physicians as "at a level that cannot even buy socks", Doğan emphasized the need for special compensation for health professionals working at night.

Night Watch Requires Separate Compensation!
Opening a special parenthesis to the midwifery profession, Doğan stated that the labor of midwives who accompany births in the middle of the night is invisible. Drawing attention to the exhausting nature of night shifts, he demanded that night shift compensation become mandatory.

Ref Welfare Share and Seyyan Raises
Economic improvements were widely included in the collective bargaining demands. For 2026, a 10,000 TL diluted increase in base salary, 10 percent welfare share and 25 percent increase; 20 percent increase was demanded for the second half. In 2027, a raise of 7,500 TL and a 20 percent increase for the first half and a 15 percent increase for the second half were proposed.

77-point Comprehensive List of Demands
The demands submitted by Sağlık-Sen to the public employer committee are the product of 10 months of fieldwork. Based on surveys, workshops and field observations, this list covers all branches of health workers.

The main demands are as follows:

Doubling the coefficient of the indicator for on-call pay.

Employees working between 20.00 and 08.00 at night should receive night compensation.

Increase supplementary payment and incentive rates.

No additional payment deductions during vacation periods.

If health professionals on administrative leave are actually working, they should be paid additional wages.

Clothing allowance should be given in kind twice a year as "special duty clothing."

Provide staffing and compensation support for specialized nurses and midwives.

Allow university hospital employees the right to transfer.

The 3600 additional indicator should be applied to all first-degree civil servants and 7200 for physicians.

"This struggle is not only a struggle for wages, it is a struggle for respect," Doğan said, adding that they will continue to negotiate until health and social service workers are given a fair life and professional dignity.
