ANKARA - The Official Gazette dated August 20, 2025 draws attention with important regulations regarding higher education institutions. With the new regulations that entered into force, Bingöl, Istanbul Aydın and Van Yüzüncü Yıl Universities established new research and application centers, while critical changes were made to the existing regulations.
Bingöl University's Bingöl Research Center
Bingöl University has established a new center called "Bingöl Studies Application and Research Center". The main purpose of this center is to identify, evaluate and publish all kinds of information and documents related to Bingöl's history, culture and economy. The center's areas of activity include conducting research to create a cultural inventory of Bingöl, preserving tangible and intangible cultural heritage such as handicrafts and traditions, organizing national and international scientific meetings, and publishing theses and studies in this field. In addition, a specialty library will be established under the center, where publications related to Bingöl will be gathered together. The management of the center will be provided by a board of directors consisting of deputy directors and two members, headed by a director to be appointed by the Rector for three years.
MediaLAB Established at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University
Van Yüzüncü Yıl University also made a breakthrough in the field of media and communication and established the "Media and Communication Application and Research Center (MedyaLAB)". Among the aims of this center are to improve media cooperation with public and private sector organizations and to contribute to the integration of the university with society. MedyaLAB will offer professional preparation practices for students in the fields of cinema, radio, television and new media. The center's fields of activity are determined as supporting new and traditional media research, creating an archive of all kinds of printed, visual and audio content, organizing seminars, courses and workshops for students and faculty members, and keeping the technical infrastructure up-to-date. At the same time, the center will also be able to realize requests such as promotional films and documentaries from within or outside the university within the scope of the revolving fund.
New Era in Education at Istanbul Aydin University Faculty of Medicine
The education and examination regulations of Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Medicine have also been amended. One of the most striking changes was the Turkish proficiency requirement for international students. Accordingly, all international students will be required to document their Turkish proficiency within the scope of bedside practice and physician-patient relationship. Turkish proficiency at the B1 level has been made compulsory in order to continue to the second year, and at the C1 level in order to continue to the fourth year. The regulation also reorganized the education system. The first, second and third grades will be based on "passing the class", while the fourth and fifth grades will be based on "passing the internship".
