Türkiye Kamu-Sen President Önder Kahveci strongly condemned Israel's attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla carrying aid to Gaza. Following the attack, which he called a "clear violation of international law," he stated that Israel would be recognized as a genocidal state and face sanctions. The confederation declared its solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Ankara – Türkiye Kamu-Sen, one of Turkey's largest civil servant confederations, has issued a fiercely worded statement condemning Israel's attack on the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was sailing to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. In the statement signed by Confederation President Önder Kahveci, the attack was emphasized as a clear violation of international law and humanitarian values.
President Kahveci stated in his message that the intervention against the civilian flotilla—aimed at breaking the "inhumane blockade" on Gaza and delivering aid—is unacceptable. Kahveci said, "We vehemently condemn the attacks carried out by Israel against the Global Sumud Flotilla, which set out to break the inhumane blockade imposed on Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid. This intervention against a purely humanitarian initiative, aimed at bringing aid to civilians, is a clear violation of international law, human rights, and the most fundamental human values."
Kahveci drew attention to the millions of civilians in Gaza struggling under a heavy blockade and oppression, asserting that such attacks are "an attempt to silence the cries of the oppressed." One of the most striking parts of the statement concerned Israel's standing on the international stage. Kahveci declared, "However, it must be known that no pressure or violence, no weapon or propaganda will suffice to suppress the voice of a just cause. Many countries around the world have recognized the State of Palestine, Israel's mask has fallen; we believe that very soon Israel will also be recognized as a genocidal state and will face the necessary sanctions." With these words, the confederation called on the international community to take clearer and more deterrent steps against Israel.
At the end of his message, Türkiye Kamu-Sen President Önder Kahveci once again declared their unwavering support for the Palestinian people and Gaza. Kahveci expressed his conviction that the Palestinian cause will eventually achieve victory: "As Türkiye Kamu-Sen, we once again declare that we stand with the Palestinian people and Gaza in this honorable struggle. The voice of justice, freedom, and humanity cannot be silenced by bombs; Palestine’s struggle for existence will sooner or later be crowned with victory. The conscience of humanity cannot be silenced!"
This strong stance by Türkiye Kamu-Sen highlighted the trade union movement’s sensitivity towards international humanitarian crises and the Palestinian cause. The confederation urgently called on the international public and the United Nations to take immediate action to lift the Gaza blockade and ensure the security of humanitarian aid corridors.
