Zonguldak/Bartın – A tragic collapse occurred in the coal mine belonging to the Turkish Hard Coal Institution (TTK) Karadon Enterprise late yesterday evening, plunging the mining community into mourning. Orhan Maskar, a 44-year-old Mine Foreman, lost his life after being trapped under a ceiling collapse in a ventilation shaft while working approximately 263 meters below the surface (at the –263 level).
According to initial reports, the incident took place in the deep sections of the coal mine operating under the Karadon Enterprise in Zonguldak. Orhan Maskar, an experienced mining employee and on duty as a Mine Foreman, was conducting routine work in a shaft section at the –263 meter level when the sudden collapse occurred.
Upon receiving the news of the cave-in, TTK search and rescue teams and colleagues were immediately dispatched to the area. Following intensive efforts by the teams, Maskar's lifeless body was recovered. The unfortunate worker’s death caused immense grief among his colleagues gathered around the mine and his family.
