The 8th Term Collective Bargaining negotiations have begun, with Türk Eğitim-Sen presenting comprehensive demands to improve the salaries, social, and personal rights of education employees. The union aims to protect past gains and address long-standing issues.
Ankara – The 8th Term Collective Bargaining Agreement (TİS) negotiations, covering the financial and social rights of public employees and retirees for 202 6-2027, have officially begun. In this critical process, trade unions advocating for the rights and interests of education employees have brought to the table comprehensive demands, the product of extensive and meticulous work. The issues of all education sector employees, from teachers to academics, from auxiliary services staff to branch managers and administrative personnel, have been identified in detail, and a comprehensive list of demands has been prepared. In the negotiations, Türk Eğitim-Sen and other authorized unions have taken their place to voice the expectations of public employees.
Our union, Türk Eğitim-Sen, which acts with the mission of protecting and developing the rights and interests of education employees, has once again demonstrated its determination to preserve past gains and secure new ones. In the statements made, it was emphasized that many problems have been resolved to date, and this struggle will continue uninterrupted.
Türk Eğitim-Sen shared its specific proposals for the education service branch with the public, showcasing its strong stance at the negotiation table. It was stated that the demands file, prepared with great care and detail by the union's authorized bodies, would constitute a significant step in solving the long-standing problems of public employees. During the negotiations, the financial, social, and personal rights expectations of education employees will be loudly expressed. It is expected that issues such as improving salaries eroded by inflation, improving working conditions, and establishing a fair wage system will be among the priority agenda items.
The 8th Term Collective Bargaining Agreement directly concerns approximately two and a half million public employees and over two million public retirees. The demands presented specifically for education employees are aimed at being evaluated within the general collective bargaining framework and ensuring improvements that will reflect on all public employees.
In this process, unions are addressing not only wage increases but also structural issues such as the abolition of the interview system, ensuring permanent employment (kadro), redressing additional indicator (ek gösterge) grievances, and resolving problems in transfer and appointment processes. Union officials underlined that in the negotiations, they will not only pursue salary increases but also any arrangements that will increase workplace peace and motivation.
Negotiations between the public employer delegation and union representatives at the collective bargaining table will accelerate in the coming weeks. The public, and especially public employees, are closely following the outcomes of these negotiations. Türk Eğitim-Sen, with its comprehensive file and determined stance, will continue to fight with all its might to meet the expectations of education employees at the highest level.
