The fire that broke out in Bağcılar İSTOÇ Trade Center was brought under control with the intervention of fire brigades. While 17 workplaces were damaged in the fire, there was no loss of life.
ISTANBUL - A fire at ISTOÇ Trade Center in Bağcılar was extinguished after intensive efforts of fire brigades. The fire, which started in a workplace selling plastic products, spread to neighboring shops in a short time, causing great material damage. Istanbul Governor Davut Gül announced that a total of 17 workplaces were damaged in the fire.
The fire broke out for an undetermined reason in a workplace selling plastic products on the 10th island of the trade center. The flames spread rapidly to the adjacent workplaces with the effect of the wind. According to the information from the scene, it was learned that small explosions occurred from time to time during the fire and partial collapses occurred on the roofs of some workplaces.
A large number of fire brigades from neighboring districts were dispatched upon the fire notification. The fire was brought under control after the teams intervened with water and foam from both land and air. Cooling efforts continued for a long time.
David Gül, the Governor of Istanbul, who came to the scene and made investigations, informed the public about the fire. In his statement, Governor Gül said, "A total of 17 businesses were damaged. The facades of some of them were burned, and the products inside some of them were burned. The fire is currently under control. Our teams continue cooling works," he said.
Authorities said a detailed investigation was underway to determine the cause of the fire.
