Israel launched a large-scale attack on Gaza city center; 38 Palestinians lost their lives. Families of prisoners reacted to the operation, which started after the visit of US Secretary of State Rubio.
GAZZE/TEL AVIV - Israel launched a large-scale military offensive against Gaza city center. It was reported that a total of 38 Palestinians, including 35 in Gaza City, were killed in the attacks that have been continuing since the morning hours. The attack took place after a visit to Israel by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Israeli tanks have entered the center of Gaza City and airstrikes in the area have intensified significantly, Barak Ravid of the US-based newspaper Axios reported. Israeli officials told Axios that US President Donald Trump supports the operation but wants it to be completed quickly.
On August 8, the Israeli government approved a plan for the gradual occupation of Gaza, proposed by Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu. In preparation for the ground operation, many structures, especially high-rise buildings allegedly used by Hamas, were targeted by airstrikes.
After the news of the attack, a written statement was made by the platform formed by the relatives of Israeli prisoners. The statement expressed deep concern over the intense attacks on Gaza and said: "For Gaza prisoners, tonight may be the last night they will survive. Netanyahu is sacrificing prisoners for his political calculations."
The families reminded the families that there are still many prisoners in Gaza and emphasized that Prime Minister Netanyahu is responsible for their lives and that this will never be forgiven by the Israeli people.
