Support to Harb-Is from DISK Istanbul Region: "The Government has Finished the Worker"

Istanbul - As the struggle for the rights of public workers in Turkey continues, the Istanbul Regional Representative Office of the Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions (DİSK) visited the Harb-İş Istanbul Branch, which is holding a vigil at the "Labor and Solidarity Tent" in Kartal for their demands in the Public Framework Protocol process. DİSK Istanbul Region supported the voices of public sector workers with the slogan "The Government Finished the Worker" and showed that they are behind their demands to the end.

Due to the stalemate in the Public Sector Framework Protocol negotiations and the failure to meet the expectations of public workers, the Harb-İş Union, which is organized in military workplaces, has launched various actions and resistances across Turkey. In this context, members of the Harb-İş Istanbul Branch are trying to make their voices heard by keeping vigil at the "Labor and Solidarity Tent" they set up in Kartal. Workers say they are oppressed under harsh economic conditions and demand a living wage and working conditions.

DİSK Istanbul Regional Representative Office visited the tent of Harb-İş Istanbul Branch, not remaining indifferent to this just struggle of public workers. During the visit, DİSK Istanbul Regional executives met with the striking workers and gave them messages of morale and solidarity. In a statement released by DISK Istanbul Region, it was stated that the words of public workers, "The Government has finished the worker," clearly reveal the economic difficulties and the negative effects of public policies on workers.

The statement emphasized that DISK has always taken a stance in favor of labor and workers and said, "We support the demands of public workers who say the government has finished the worker." This visit demonstrated once again the importance of solidarity between unions and strengthened the common struggle of public workers.

Public Sector Framework Protocol Process and Workers' Expectations

The negotiations on the Framework Protocol for Public Collective Labor Agreements directly concern the financial and social rights of hundreds of thousands of public sector workers in Turkey. The unions had come to the table with basic demands such as improving wages that are eroding in the face of inflation, expanding social rights, increasing job security and improving working conditions. However, the lack of concrete results from the talks has led the unions to reinforce their decision to take action.
