ANKARA/ISTANBUL - Under the leadership of Ankara Palestine Solidarity Platform (ANFIDAP), of which Turkey's largest civil servant confederation Memur-Sen is a component, a big "Gaza Determination March" was held across Turkey on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Hundreds of thousands of citizens gathered in 81 cities, mainly in Ankara and Istanbul, to raise the voice of Gaza, support the freedom flotillas and protest the Israeli genocide.
One of the most remarkable parts of the march in Ankara was attended by Memur-Sen President Ali Yalçın. The march, which started in front of Melike Hatun Mosque, attracted a wide participation from all segments of society:
Various Professions: Journalists, lawyers, academics, health professionals.
Civil Movements: Disabled people, mothers with children and babies.
Social Support: Supporters of football teams and leaders of various non-governmental organizations.
Participants chanted powerful slogans throughout the march to draw attention to "The murderous Israeli genocide in Gaza since October 7, 2023" and the human tragedy in Palestine. The march ended with an enthusiastic rally at the July 15th Kızılay National Will Square.
At the rally sites, videos of activists on the Global Sumud Flotilla, which aims to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza, were shown to reinforce support for humanitarian efforts.
"Free Palestine from the river to the sea", reflecting the demand for freedom and independence for the whole of Palestine, was the main slogan of the marches, which were also strongly supported by the Union of Civil Servants. With this determination, hundreds of thousands of participants once again emphasized the mission of upholding human dignity and honor.Memur-Sen and other NGOs expressed their solidarity with the Palestinian people until the persecution in Gaza ends.
